Letters - From world wide to Goa

Goans have spoken!

The People of Goa have spoken and with what a resounding verdict; the thundering message I’m sure would have reached the higher echelons of power of the hallowed Congress High Command and what a message to you! Our outgoing Goa Government had obviously chosen to ride roughshod and ignore our wishes and aspirations and instead repeatedly heaped insult over injury on Goa and Goans on all fronts and the Congress High Command was a partner in crime in all that was grossly wrong. It is befitting that during the 50th Anniversary of Goa’s Liberation Goans have sent some strong messages to the Congress and its alliances.

While the Congress High Command introspects over the debacle and the poor performance of the low-lives in the Goa Government, we hope you take some time to reflect on the immense damage you have done all along to our beautiful Bhangarachem Goem and the Goemkar. This is on behalf of all Goans who celebrate the downfall of the worst Government that Goa has ever had in its history.

Rightfully kicked out

I salute people of Goa for bringing a change by kicking Congress out of Goa. The result clearly showed the world that Goans are not fools anymore. But it is shame for those who voted for the Congress even after knowing the nefarious rule Goa witnessed under it.

The corrupt heavyweight Churchill Alemao along with his self-proclaimed social worker family members should now stop rolling crocodile’s tears and instead pack their bags and go to Karwar the place they intend to merge with Goa.

The BJP should now govern according to the needs of Goa and its people lest they be next in line to be kicked out like footballs in the next election. Also it is time for the BJP to bring to book all the rogue politicians and bureaucrats for their wrongdoings under Congress’ mafias rule. The drug mafias, the mining mafias, the land mafias and overall the protector (rogue cops) of criminals from Goa Police department should immediately be sent to Aguada Jail. The verdict is clearly a call to give justice who were denied under Congress mafias rule and break the criminal nexus between politicians and bureaucrats.

Party alliances

The current Goan election mandate has given a “big no” and disapproval to the current ruling Congress-NCP Government. It will be a big insult to the Goan electorate, if the other stake holders ie MGP, GVP and independents support the Congress. This party coalition has destroyed Goa enough and we need to teach them a big lesson that Goans cannot be taken for granted. We must give the opportunity to others and hopefully Goa will see better days!

Goa elections

The road to change has begun. However, it appears that family raj still persists and only the Alemaos are out! The old war horses, the tainted and corrupt, except for a few, are all back in all parties, sometimes with considerable majority. The electorate has now to hold Parrikar and those who represent their area responsible so that they adhere to their manifestos, boasts and promises and be like watchdogs worthy of a true democracy.

The right choice

Goans have been going downhill for the last few years. Goa and Goans have forgotten God, values and all virtues. Today we have new “gods” in money. Our pride had led to our downfall when we neglected our traditional occupations, like agriculture, fishing, horticulture etc., in order to avoid being seen as belonging to an “inferior class”. We all obtained education but lost out on knowledge, traditional and unwritten. The short-term and bad policies of our Governments, either intentional or not, continued our downfall, and our greed especially after statehood has accelerated it further.

Today we have good education, make much money and live a comfortable life, but we are poor due to absence of God, love, justice and peace in our lives; we are slaves of our “thinking” and are afraid to go the right path. Why are we afraid to vote for the best person in the concealed booth?

Sometimes we may not have a good choice and may be too afraid to use the refuse to vote ie Rule 49-O, which is not secretive. However, we did have good candidates in at least some of our constituencies, this time around, who may have lesser educational qualifications, but they seem to really love Goa and her people.

Non-clearance of drains

It is a fact that the drains and nullahs in the villages of Adpai and Durbhat remain neglected. The same are not cleared regularly;  plastic garbage/other waste material gets accumulated which tend to be unhygienic for the precious lives of innocent residents and pedestrians. Only during the first week of June,  the village panchayat follow the formality  of carrying out pre-monsoon work. However, the representatives of the Directorate of Panchayats seldom visit the jurisdiction of various village panchayats and rely only on the report submitted by them. In the interest of the local population, it would be advisable for this authority to arrange surprise visits to the above villages to take stock of the existing degrading condition and initiate appropriate positive action in public interest.
