DR. P.S.RAMANI

Each person must have the dignity to love the place he is born in…

An extremely soft spoken and mild mannered gentleman, he has been ably supported in his arduous but equally spellbinding journey in the field of medicine and life in general.

Amongst his various pioneering efforts, was setting up an up-to-date neurosurgery department in the Sion Hospital in Bombay, several breakthroughs in surgical techniques that helped Minimize the perception of pain and suffering till then associated with neurosurgery,  mastering and patenting techniques such as PLIF, IDSS, Anterior Cervical Fusion, Tran oral Surgery, etc.

Dr Ramani’s thirst for knowledge is matched only by his    Desire to share that knowledge with as many doctors, Students, Medical practitioners and even the general public at large.

Teaching is in fact one of his favorite activities, besides reading, trekking and travelling extensively all over the world.

1.     What makes you proud as  Goan?

Each person must have the dignity to love the place he is born. He should always keep in touch with the local society. He should feel proud to belong to that place and to belong to that state and in a wider sense feel proud to be an Indian..I was born in Goa. I have kept touch with Goa and realizing that Goa is one of the most beautiful places in the World and referred to as Hawaii of the Orient. I feel very proud of Goa.

2. What were the struggles that you had to endure to achieve your goals?

I did not have much struggle. Each stumbling stone was a challenge to me and I accepted it with dignity and pleasure and worked hard to overcome it with determination. I have always won the game.

3.       How do you see the future of your field in goa?

The future of my field is extremely bright for Goa. Today, spinal surgery is right at the top of all medical specialties because of hard work put by people like me. I have tremendous faith in the young generation of doctors. They are very enthusiastic to learn accept challenging work and that is the key for success.

We have several bright spinal surgeons in Goa and there are enough patients to keep them busy.

4.       What message you would like to convey to the youth of goa?

Irrespective of your intelligence, caste or creed, have a passion in life. If there is passion then one can set up a goal .Without goal there is no purpose in life. Till the end one must work hard to reach the goal, all the time looking up to the crest. Success will always follow.
