Indian pop singer and musician Remo Fernandes has appealed to the youth to vote against corruption and elect sincere people to Goa Assembly.

He has been appointed the Youth Icon by the Election Commission of India, for Goa poll scheduled for 3 March.

He addressed a joint press conference in the presence of Chief Election Commission S Y Qureshi yesterday.

According to Remo, corruption is the key issue, but our politicians have been shadowing it by using caste, religion and language to misguide the voter.

Remo also lauded the efforts of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare for highlighting the root cause that has corroded the Indian polity.

He also felt confident that the Assembly elections in all the five states would be fought on the issue of corruption due to nationwide awareness being created by Anna Hazare.

“I may compose a new song on voting against corruption, depending on  the inspiration I get”, he said.

Remo however pointed out that he has composed several songs against ongoing corruption.

As a brand ambassador of the Election Commission, Remo plans to create awareness among youth through media interviews and even through Facebook.
