Zero tolerance to corruption
PANAJI: The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar on Friday said that although he has no magic wand to bring immediate changes in the administration-less Goa, as left behind by the previous Congress government, he would do his best to implement maximum assurances given to the people in the election manifesto of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Addressing a large gathering of people, which was present at the swearing-in ceremony of his cabinet at the Sports Authority of Goa Ground, Mr Parrikar said that his government would have zero tolerance for corruption. “My government will extend all help to every person in this state, who wants to fight injustice,” he added.
Stating that within the next two to three months his government would take measures that would ensure generation of employment within the state, the new Chief Minister said that these efforts of the government would be aimed towards preventing the Goan youth from leaving the state in search of job opportunities.
Mr Parrikar also reiterated that his government would bring down the price of petrol by
Rs 11 from April 2, 2012, by cutting down the Value Added Tax on the petroleum product. “This very morning, there was a failure in the working of Western Grid at around 6.30 am, which I came to know from some member of the public, and managed to get it repaired before Goans could know it,” he informed, maintaining that he expects such kind of active support from the public.
Speaking further, Mr Parrikar said that he is well aware of the difficulties faced by Goans during the regime of the previous government and added that he would do his best to give relief to everyone. “Each of my party’s assurance to you will be fulfilled,” he concluded, maintaining that the kind of public mandate BJP has received during the assembly election should make him deliver nothing less than an administration, which will create a golden Goa.
