MARGAO: Churchill Brothers and Salgaocar SC played out a 1-1 draw in the GFA Taca Goa Under-20 football tournament
at Nagoa grounds, Verna on Sunday evening.
Both the goals came in the first half of play and despite a fast and attacking football played by both the teams, there was no score in the second session.

Churchill Brothers surged ahead in the 11th minute of the first half through Nicolas Fernandes but Salgaocar did not take much time to restore parity, finding the mark in the 24th minute of play through Placidinho Fernandes.
Both the teams played a positional and possession football and entertained the crowd with their fine football skills.
The defence and midfield of both the teams did a commendable job but their strikers lacked the accuracy in their shooting abilities.
Even as both the teams had two good shots at the rival goals but that was not enough to move the score any further as the teams lacked imagination and killer instinct to find the goals, resulting in splitting points.

Although football is still played in the fields in most villages, development and progress has brought about the birth of play areas such as Fatorda Stadium, Tivim Football Ground, Verna Football Ground and such.

Along with the construction of areas more suitable for the sport, various academies have come up to train the youth of which Brazil Football Academy and Sesa Football Academy are note worthy.  

The Goa Football Association , that was established in 1959, today holds various competitions for the numerous teams all over Goa. The Kingfisher Pro League, the I-League, the GFA U14 & U16 Tournaments and the various division lagues bring in spectators from all over Goa. Currently the Kingfisher Pro League is on and on 9th of January  Calangute play against Sesa FA at Duler at 3:45 pm, while at the same time there is a match at Tilak Maidan between Margao SC & Goa Velha.
